Unconditional Love: A Poem for Momma

by Kayla   Feb 27, 2011

Decades of wisdom
Packed into eighteen years.
Learning how to be strong,
Never admitting fears.
Learning how to stand alone
And never let them see
The amount of pain she keeps inside,
Or what leaves her incomplete.
Coming from a broken home
With a father who was never there.
Her mother did the best she could
With what time she had to spare.
She taught that girl to stand her ground
And never depend on a man.
"Use the brains the good Lord gave,
And do the best you can."
I thank my mother every day
For all the sacrifices she had to make.
She gave up her dreams for two young girls,
And not once considered it a mistake.
Unconditional love from a mother,
With unlimited understanding and smiles.
Raising us girls was never simple,
But we came closer through the trials.
