I can understand exactly what you are describing in this poem. My old lover came to see me after a year and told me he still loved "her". Yeah. It's pretty painful after he meant a lot to you... It will all get better. You just have to realize that if it is meant to be, it will be. Within what amount of time, I don't know. But all in all it's something really painful to go through. I can relate. Good poem.
