Prayer for the Man in Blue

by Sherry Lynn   Mar 1, 2011

Lord, I ask for courage
Courage to stay strong
While my man in blue is gone

I ask for more time
To hold him in my arms
As he presses his lips against mine

God, I ask for peace of mind
As I toss about in our bed tonight
While he's fighting to keep peace on the streets

Most of all, Father
I ask that you guide him
Protect him, be at his side
And bring him safely home tonight

Sherry, your man in blue, is such a lucky one!

The tone was very, very heart-whelming, warming, very tender, and extremely moving. I was touched by your words, it felt as thought you were at the edge of pouring your whole heart into this prayer...

To ask for courage while your man in blue is gone, is to ask in an indirect way for faith, and hope! and you went for the right person! to ask for some courage ;) :) I loved the opening, more than you could ever believe.

The 2nd stanza, to ask for time..as his lips presses upon yours; such a line not only shows your passion, no it shows your longings, how wild how eager that you would want time to stop, to pause and never have 'em gone away again. to feel him close enough, long enough...beautiful, also shows how much they are missed when they're gone...out there..almost to the unknown.

Now the stanza that seriously left me so speechless, was this one :

God, I ask for peace of mind
As I toss about in our bed tonight
While he's fighting to keep peace on the streets

Sherry, it's a very beautiful verse, it stands as a poem itself, how meaningful and expressive! To ask for peace of mind while he's with you, because deep inside you know that his mind, soul, feelings and everything he've got is worried about the peace out there, it shows the dedication of that person, and how sensitive you are to feel him! Beautiful..very beautiful.

May they all return safe, I learned that in the hands of God, we are all safe, anywhere...anywhere!

    Well done, claps..

This was such a beautiful prayer that not only showed your heart's desires but a humble friend's greatest suffering to watch someone go out and risk everything, for their country or maybe just the neighborhood, but still it takes a lot to trust. It will be all right, God is with you forever and like you said will bestow courage & grace.

    Keep writing and many blessings...
