Taste and See

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 6, 2011

Food for thought was good while it lasted
From improvised justice many have fasted
The wicked sword is no match for the pen
Let us break bread with many women and men
Enjoying the feast that we are gormandizing
There is no longer the need for improvising
For we are given this day our daily bread
And by this sacred meal we may all be fed
At the altar of harmony and lasting peace
Where loaves and fishes miraculously increase
Blest are the multitude that now hunger and thirst
When the first will be last and the last will be first

Glad I stumbled across this, I enjoyed it. I rally like the flow to your poem, and the meaning obviously. The rhyming was also good, and well placed, and I like how you managed to make the poem look like each line is about the same length. Looks good.

Good title choice too, like saying come and have a piece for yourself!

    Nice.
