All I have is tonight

I sit here in the dark,
Pondering over every way.
Trying to find an escape,
A tiny reason to breathe everyday.

Wondering why everything disappears,
As soon as I reach out to touch,
It seems that you're running away,
Did I really ask you for much?

I'm not new to this world,
Not even ignorant of it's ways,
But every time I try to get closer,
My hearts ends up crying for endless days.

Why do I crave so much to be with you?
Your thoughts just linger in my mind each day,
Never once leaving me,
But your footsteps walk the other way.

In silent years that pass me by,
I've known only one that helps me feel,
That there's something more,
But I know now I cannot even see...

Blinded by emotions,
Bound by chains that never let escape,
Wilted images of the days gone by,
In solace a heart's own words will shape

To form a mould that cannot break,
At night I hear the whispers as I lay awake,
Trying to find a way out of these games,
And not let the past repeat each mistake.

All I really want to do is see your face,
Hear your voice and know that everything will be alright.
All I really want to do is tell you how I feel,
Because I have nothing to loose & all "I have is tonight"
