Love War

by Matthew Schut   Mar 21, 2011

Broken, I grab my vest
And also my shield
It could be a tearful day
With no time to yield

I move into your battlefield
With bullets firing at me
Why does this always happen
Will your clip ever be empty

I can see a missile coming
A gernade is on its way
I can see pieces of my heart
And some are starting to decay

Pain screams into my chest
I can't seem to feel my leg
Please stop this war
Come home to me, I beg

My body is soon filled with bullets
The gernade has fallen at my side
I have no way to run anymore
I bet you are filled with so much pride

As I lay there and wait for my death
Baby, I want you to please know this
You are everything I ever wanted
I love you and you will be forever missed

This is sad. :( It is unfair and it is cruel. But I guess that's life. It is well written but I think it lacks imagery as well as emotion. I think that this piece is a creative way to express what you feel/felt. But that does not mean it was very original. The length is nice, and so is the flow. Overall I believe this piece could have been stronger. I gave it a 4/5, which is a first in a long time. I know I am bashing this piece a bit, okay, a lot, but still I have read so much better from you. I hope you aren't mad, but if it helps this is techniqually an opinion...
