The Release

by BlackenedInnocence   Mar 23, 2011

She grabs a pen
And writes a letter of affliction.
A single tear seals it.
It explains her self infliction

She searches for a rope
But finds just a cord instead.
"This will have to work"
She thinks inside her head.

Towards the door now
"Here we go"
One last look.
"I'll be gone before you know"

Talking to herself out loud.
Going through all of the miserable wrongs.
Heading for that secluded bridge.
You know the one
(On Sara Jane Road)

Destination in line of view.
"Can I really do this?
It isn't something I can undo"

Tying the noose
It's almost over.
Such a beautiful noose.
Releasing her from the inner monsters.

She puts the fatal necklace around her throat.
Peering down at the running water below
She almost lets out a soft smile.
"This is it. Here I go..."

Eyes closed. Body trembling. Feet leave the boards.
Her last thoughts are of what hurts the most.

...

Her eyes are suddenly opened.
Realizing she is in her bed.
Still here, still living, still broken.
It was a dream. No matter how hard she plead.

"Enough!" She screams.
"I can no longer deplore!"
She goes to the closet
And hunts for that cord
