What does a bullet prove?

by Lyssi Lori   Mar 23, 2011

What does a bullet prove? -- a shotgun to the head?
What problems are getting solved now that you are dead?
Maybe you won't feel the pain of the world on your chest,
But you won't feel accomplished when you do your best.
Maybe you won't have to cry over a broken heart anymore,
But you'll never find out what was really in store.
No more scraped knees, being bullied, or trying to fill someone's shoes,
No more inside jokes, long walks, or new memories, 'cause it's the bullet you choose.
But what did the bullet prove? Are you living the dream?
Life here, on Earth, is not better, at least that's what I'd deem.
You thought you were worthless, better off dead, and now you'll never know.
Without you here, we're all lost in some way, with no direction to go.
But I won't get up just yet; no, the bullet won't win.
I lost you, but a new story will surely begin.
It's a shame our plans won't go through, a shame you'll never know how important you were,
Your voice is lost, our memories blur, but to those reading, remember, a bullet is never the cure.
