"I fall to the sketched echoes of my faith,
shouting beyond wet skies & open cloud
today is the day of my decision
and no one else can restrain this choice."
^^What a beautiful opening you have here..I found these opening lines to hold so much emotion and meaning, that I was pulled in to the poem as soon as I started to read it.
I love the second line of this stanza, it holds so much depth in so little words, and I adore the imagery.
"As worn sun sighs with weight,
my own thoughts wander.
The calm voice so still
like the flat table beneath
my swelling stomach."
^^The first line of this stanza is my favourite simply because of the 'worn sun sighs' I thought the wording was original and it really stood out to me.
"And that stranger takes
what is nobody's,
scalping more than tissue,
more than organs,
but a combining of
our hearts."
^^Here is where I can feel the words beginning to tug on my heartstrings, I had an idea from the first couple of lines that this was going to take a saddening turn, and I found the last line to be incredibly bittersweet and moving, but tainted with melancholy all the same.
"For my child continues to speak to me
even though he was denounced rights-
not quite a half human hand print,
barely big enough to call a breath."
^^This is so sad..I am welling up here, the emotion in this stanza alone is absolutely astounding..oh jeez, this is so emotional and heart wrenching.
"But I hear my boy forevermore,
and my life is now dedicated to his banquet
for I know he sits at the throne of God
where love only welcomes. "
^^ I didn't think this stanza was as strong as the others..that being said, it was still full of emotion and so much meaning has been captured into so few words yet again.
I too, thought this was about a miscarriage, because of the third and fourth stanza, if I'm correct then this is such a moving tribute to a little one lost..filled with such despair throughout but written so beautifully and lovingly with an ending that signifies hope.
