Sleep

Static noise wraps my eardrums
To silence the steady beating in my chest
Quietly so quiet static can drown out all the rest

With closed eyes the darkness hides
The horrors these eyes have seen
Monstrosities melt away into nothing

A familiar feeling of comfort embraces
Holds me close, curled up under the covers
Nothing can get me here

Sleep brings sanctuary
Dreams bring escape
At least until morning
