Eyes on the Prize

by aeco   Apr 5, 2011

TODAY I DECIDED WAS A DAY FOR ADVENTURE
I ROLLED OUT OF BED AND PREPARED FOR MY VENTURE
I GRABBED MY TRUSTY HAT AND SMILED
BECAUSE TODAY WAS DEFINITELY A DAY TO BE WILD.

SOON I FOUND MYSELF IN A MAZE
TRYING TO ESCAPE A GROWING BLAZE!
I RAN THROUGH THE DOOR AND DOWN THE HALL
ONLY TO BE STOPPED BY A PRISON BARRED WALL.

SO THROUGH ANOTHER DOORWAY I BEGAN TO RUN
THIS WAS BECOMING MORE EXCITING THAN WHEN IT BEGUN.
I FINALLY ARRIVED AT A TALL OBJECT OF SOME SORT
AND MADE A QUICK DECISION TO CLIMB IT AS A LAST RESORT.

I CLIMBED OVER ONE WOODEN ROD AND THEN ANOTHER
AND HOISTED MYSELF UP AS IF IT WAS NO BOTHER.
I FOUND MYSELF OVERLOOKING THE VIEW
AND I SEE MY TARGET; I'M ALMOST THROUGH.

STANDING UP TALL, WITH MY EYES ON THE PRIZE
SLOWLY WALKING TOWARDS IT, MY STOMACH APPRISED
I REACH THE COOKIE JAR WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE
GOING THROUGH SO MUCH TO REACH THIS SACRED PLACE.

SUDDENLY, OUT OF NO WHERE, SOMETHING GRABS ME
AND CARRIES ME AWAY TO SOMEWHERE I CAN'T SEE
IT SEEMED TO CARRY ME AWAY FOR MILES
AND ALL I COULD SEE WAS A SINISTER SMILE.

THE CREATURE LAID ME DOWN ON A BED
"KOOCHIE KOOCHIE KOO" IT SEEMED TO HAVE SAID.
WHAT LANGUAGE IS THIS? I THOUGHT TO MYSELF,
AS IT PULLED A DIAPER OFF OF THE SHELF.
