In New Faith

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 9, 2011

I never accepted the sunrise because each heave into life
would only burden me with flashbacks of light,
taken away and stabbed by unyielding control.

[ Shaded by his power
I knew nothing of equal hearts ]

I was afraid of knowing what an embrace felt like,
to stay together, and be true.

I saw death at first heavy in your eyes, a cross,
a witness to fatalities. Nothing could be salvaged.
You talked life over with me and spoke words to the core,
that each weight we carry is somehow connected
to humanity (complete stranger's paths).
You told me everyone shares some fear, some voice of anger,
but if we find that medium, we can truly be unstoppable.
Each morning we met at the park's early bench,
lifting hands up as praise to be still breathing
and I embraced the reality of falling in love again.
Your thoughts entered innocently and secluded all worries
through every prayer we found God's angels whispering,
murmuring above our heads to move even closer.
We did.
Finding that our souls were at last equal lights to be shone,
love holy and strong, not by desire, but by faith and trust
capable of mastering a truer horizon where life goes on.
