Burning in the Skies

by Jad   Apr 22, 2011

Explosive eruptions ignite mass death,
ending lives and traumatizing nations,
yet this warfare exceeds logical thinking
and only serves to portray human nature.

Nuclear, chemical, Atomic-
Blinds eyes to the real source of pain
that pulses through our kid's last breath
as their eyes are burned into their skull.

So let the rich play their games
as the poor suffer the consequences,
losing all that has been found and
gaining nothing but an empty world.

Fires to ruin and eventually to dust;
mankind will kill himself in beliefs
or ideas of what he believes is humane
but it will all end, burning in the skies.

This poem is such a reality check for people and I wish more could read and comprehend what you are trying to say. Loved the title, loved where you went with this piece, I thought it was great!

Very deep and thought provoking piece. Great imagery letting the reader visualize what you are seeing. It is sad what is happening in the world today. Makes me sad to think what will be here when my grand babies are grown.
    Great job!

The poor does pay the price for mankind. But the rich have a choice . I won't get into the tech. ideas that run through my head.
Let me just say, I think your writing is fantastic as your thoughts are filled with clarity of life and it's surroundings.

    Dramatizing nations,
^Are you sure you didn't mean to say 'traumatizing' I feel that may fit better.

let the rich play their games
as the poor suffer the consequences,
^Kind of liked this part, just really held a lot of power.

Ending is powerful as well, ends on a solid note. You wrapped it up very nicely, also bringing the title into the poem as well. Nicely done

Yes that is what that will eventually happen
leaving a barren world for our children if the
future survives with children. A heart rendering write..
