Palms (Tanka)

by Sylvia   Apr 25, 2011

Pensive palms so tall,
fronds moving lightly with each
gentle breeze that blows,
waving hello to the world
residing far, far below.

I admire how you can use few words to tell such a lovely story, like gazing at a painted picture or having someone discribe a image that the eyes are longing to behold. Very well done, kel.

A very beautiful Tanka with great description that I found to be very helpful as I could see all of this in my head as I read. The imagery was perfect with this and made the visualize very nice. :] The poem flowed really good and though this is a short form you did a great job with it. Many people think this is a easy form because of how short it is but they should reconsider that you are trying to describe something with a restricted amount of words and its such a short poem it is hard to do. Nevertheless, you did a great job and I can't wait till you try another one.

All in all, you are very good at forms or at least the ones you have tried and I hope you continue to challenge yourself and try new forms. You are very creative and your talent is wonderful and I am soo happy I can read your poems and I hope you never stop writing. Once again I just want to say that this was beautiful and your flow and imagery were wonderful to. Great job and keep writing!
