The Child I Never Knew

I miss you though you were never here
try to picture you but there is no form
you touched my life without being here
i would have loved you
if you had been there for me to love
would have held you, cared and tended you
why did you leave without saying goodbye
this natural, they say
i didn't think i would lose you
i was only sixteen, hardly old enough
to care for you
but i was also stupid
an wanting to disappear from
the life i knew
not even realizing the new life
i carried in my womb
and its strange because i always
believed that i was destined to be alone
then you cam into my life, but
just like that you were gone
I'm older now an I'm still trying
to ignore what i know to be true
and now I'll spend an eternity
mourning the child i never knew
