Carbonated Spirit

by Larry Chamberlin   Apr 26, 2011

Back when we were young she sizzled -
cold pop from bottle, soda blast tide;
her eyes used to sparkle, like Sprite
just opened with bubbles on the side.

Now she's flat, still flavored water,
unfilled glass, empty nest, gone her thrills;
her cup once effervescent with joy,
just lemon scented cleanser spills.

Yet, some nights, as lightning tingles,
champagne popping I hear in wonder;
Field her glimpse, catch her hand, her smile,
sizzling - she pours me out like thunder.

    Aha! Larry this was so unbelievably cute that it actually made me chuckle...The analogy of sprite was priceless. One would turn that into a funny poem , but you've actually described something so sweet and sensual here.
    I really loved every minute of it and it put a smile on my face. It's been a while since a poem did that to me! :)
