Lost Memories

Strange how some memories lose their reality
Where they once were so strong
They fade into eternity
Where once you could taste, you could touch, you could feel
It was once just out of reach
Now you question was it real
There was a time when you replayed them in your head
Over and over
Every word that was said
Now you try to replay and you get stuck on pause
Can't seem to grasp
What it is or what it was
Yet every once in a while, it happens so fast
A smell or a sound
You're back there at last
Something brings you back to a feeling or place
You close your eyes
Before it's again erased
You live in that moment so deep in your past
You try to hang on
Try to make it last
And even a place we don't want to revisit
Will hold us for a moment
And keep us in it
The smells, the touches, the feelings we had
They all fade away
The good and the bad
Where do they go to, those lost memories?
Though some are gone forever
Some will still haunt me...

So very true. At times my mind will wander back in time and when reality hits I find my self with a smile on my face or anger in my heart. How did I get there ? or why? Its the "smile" ones I wish would come around more often.

Very enjoyable and thought provoking reading.
