Poison && Antidote

by Amanda Ghosties   May 10, 2011

Sighing deeply, she closes the book.
Of secrecy, hostility, && lies.
Wishing for nothing more than a day
Full of renewed promises, && lullabies.

His sweet blue eyes, turned icy && lost
Winter came too soon, she screams.
Her super hero has come && gone,
Yet he persists to haunt her dreams.

The sun shines brightly, flowers bloom,
Yet alone inside, her heart turns cold.
He was her Romeo, her prince to be,
But, his dark desires were left untold.

She fails to understand just why,
He persisted with this masquerade.
She believed in him, with all she had,
Fists clenched, her tears cascade.

&& Still this beaten, broke down girl,
Swears to wait for his return.
She believes so deeply, this is true love,
Tears fall, her heart, it burns.

You'll be the death of her, Romeo,
You can't pretend you don't see this,
You're her poison && antidote,
Remove the venom with a kiss.

    I love this poem.
    Absolutely flawless.
    The pain & love she feels flows out so perfectly. It makes you wanna keep reading, wanting to know how it ends & if it changes.
