The Truth Hurts

by PinkyPrincess   May 10, 2011

A silent moment,
heart starts to pound.
The words slither out
like a snake about to bite.

No shield or armor
could protect from such pain.
The words have been said
and cannot be erased.

Staring into space,
unable to speak a word.
History is repeating itself
Over and over again.

Heart continues to pound,
beating double than average.
Mistakes have been made
and there's no way to undo them.

Broken promises and empty words
the uselessness of today's world
Lost in a train of thought;
everything has changed.

That explains the worst feeling;
the feeling of the hurtful truth.

    A very heartfelt and real poem. One of my favorite things in poetry are emotion and truth, and this has both of those concepts.

    "the uselessness of today's world"

    I love that line. So so SO true!
