Love Is a House

by JJ   May 14, 2011

We built a house, piece by piece
One wall pink, another blue, another green
We grew a garden of yellow smiling sunflowers
A white Pickett fence secures the lawn

But the house did not last
The walls fell, the paint crackled
The sunflowers lay their heads down and wept
Vulnerability draped as curtains

The house has fallen
Trying to pick up the pieces...rebuilding
The screaming wind acts as a thief
Stealing every memory...every joyful memory

Love is a house, continuously being built
But the avalanche has hit
I am worn

This is a good effort. The only thing I would say is not to say directly 'love is a huose,' especially as the title, as it makes the poem to obvious and takes some of the interest away. Other than that it was a good effort, keep it up
