Lonely Street

by QueenGwen   May 16, 2011

Quiet night settles around the lonely street
All along, homes tucked in quiet and warm
Not a soul found, nor anyone to meet
The crisp winter wind whips by, free of form

The light of the full moon brightens the sky
Awaking the unseen creatures of night
Unknown are they to the warm homes nearby
Gazing at the lonely street just in sight

Hearing sounds of bedtime drift through the air
All children and parents away in bed
In lavish dreams, completely unaware
Of the dangers of the night, gone unsaid

Dangers of the night indeed, Death at hand
He hath arrived, not a soul can withstand.
