God's Precious Gift (Tri-fall)

by Meena Krish   May 16, 2011

Distance pushes apart
each one end
still we maintain a strong friendship,
your love sits in my heart
cares and mends
nurturing this relationship

Thoughts search for the right words
to praise you
but none seem to fit your measure
when life's vision is blurred,
easing coos
replaces a path of pleasure

Special all through the year
strict yet kind
to take your place there's no other,
aged voice wipes unseen tears
woes it finds
God's most precious gift, my mother

The Tri-fall, created by Jan Turner, consists three
6-line stanzas, for a total of 18 lines. The rhyme
scheme is a,b,c,a,b,c and meter for each stanza
is as follows: 6/3/8, 6/3/8. This form requires little
to no punctuation and can be written on any subject matter

Your words are so moving to the reader. I like how you mention at the end who you're specifically talking about throughout the whole poem, I thought that was a nice touch. You can definitely feel the emotion in your words, the warmth of love. Very beautiful expression.

Mothers have a special place in our hearts. I no longer have my mother on earth, but she is still in my heart and has my love in heaven.

Beautiful work as always Meena. I'm going to have to give this form a try because it seems you have mastered them. Thanks for sharing. :] -Nik
