I just hope

by Yakari Gabriel   May 19, 2011

I've always held you,
like a fragile crystal in my hands.

Always speaking of you,
as if you were the one who placed
the moon in the sky..

the memories of us
haven't changed like we did.

I never fail to cherish
the flashbacks I get,
And I never deny
the way my heart dies a little
when I remember,

How I would find myself
when I was near you,
how your mere presence
would melt away my sorrow
like sugar dissolves in thee

I never forget to miss you,

Yet now,
It all seems so unworthy to you
As if all that once was
Is just a chapter in your life
You'd pay to forget.

What is it about time,
That makes us turn and become
what we no longer recognize..

its a torture to know,
that although we live in the same
galaxy,
we see different stars.

I slipped from your heart
Like sand through the fingers,

Yet you are placed in mine
Like a birthmark on skin.

I just hope you're doing fine
without me,
Because I'm not doing so good.

This write is so simple yet the emotions behind
it feels so strong as if they are left unnoticed, unattended
to. Liked the write from start to finish…congrats on the win :)

Maybe I loved this poem so much because I could relate to it so much.

    Only a few things -

hold should be held in the first line.

The last stanza could perhaps be a bit stronger. But seriously the metaphors although simple and a little cliche, I adored them. This poem as a whole was probably one of your best ones honestly. Well done Yaki!
