They'll Never Understand

by Jack Nightengale   May 25, 2011

They'll never understand...
The thoughts that sin in my brain,
Or my struggle in life's pain.

They'll never understand...
Why I never walk the same way,
The things I go through every single day.

They'll never understand...
How I keep a smile and keep on living,
How I earn my money just make my living.

They'll never understand...
My consequence or my intent,
Why the scars on my arms are permanent.

They'll never understand...
Why I never had a friend,
How or even why this knife was my end!

This was good. I, too, feel the same as you portray in your poem. They truly never will understand me. Or why my soul is so lost. Or why I choose to cry by myself. But, hey, oh well. That just means they never wanted to understand because they are afraid of the real world.

    Wow really deep!
I like the way you repeated the message of not understanding you...
People with depression always believe that no one knows how they feel and seek for someone that can relate but due to the fact that they feel they dont belong and cant cope they feel the temptations of taking their own life get more desirable... You captured the emotions well in this peace
