Land of Innocence

by Shinobi   May 25, 2011

Pondering upon feelings while falling from grace
Of solemn moments in life which had to pass by
As todays future advances in such a rapid pace
Yesterday's worries crawl around slick and sly

Sun rises upon a dark land filled with rage
Death is no stranger in the chill morning air
As the moon rises in his white glory to the stage
Rivers of blood stain hearts without care

Mirrors of self reflection shatter once more
So does the question of who I need to be
As the tide swiftly carries me ashore
Drenched in those rivers I'm finally free

Crashing waves rage against my every bone
Tombstones raise high revealing the truth
Cold to the touch, made of iron and stone
Before me, I realize, ends my youth

Not my best work, but I think it went out nicely.

I haven't read much of your poems, but i have to say in my opinion this is one of your best works. a wonderful tale of ending youth written with death allegory, very good. i must say "Cold to the touch, made of iron and stone" was your best line. As always i encourage that not all poems need to rhyme and as i can see with your choice of words you can definetly write a poem just as beautiful.
