Lovely Lady
While you still delay
to take your leave of town
The blossoms on the cherry tree
sigh and flutter down
Wait not
'till the blooms from every Vale and Garden pass
And the whiteness from your daisy chain
drop to the newborn grass
Has memory with the Springtime gone
to rest there with the dead
Remember when we first met
you pressed my hand and said
I am the Lady of the Morning Time
come listen while I sing
Take this Song of Love from me
and take this flower of Spring
Your face enshrined...lost and found
amid showers of morning gleams
You were a lover's fairy dream
rimed in drops from crystal streams
But...you and I now filled with grief
sit here face to face
May we not reclaim that happy song
if we can but change our place
These silvered days will cease to be
there is not long to wait
For we are close my Lady friend
to that dark and spectral gate
And yet my love this life of pains
had joyful time for me
And despite beliefs in faiths and creeds
still remains a mystery
But...oh my love
This ancient town
of throbbing sound and smoke
Can not replace the hallowed lanes
of columned beech
and ever rustling oak
