Soldier's Tales......I

by Thomas Pender   May 30, 2011

Shivering I ride along
Behind me lie the failing rays
of another bloodstained day
Pictures hewn in crumbling stone
look down upon this hard clenched man
as I go my lonely way
Both sword and cloak bound tightly
around age worn aching bones
as I seek some words to pray
To whom...to what
I wish I knew
I see myself torn yet true
A knight....a knave
I do not know
I bear inner scars I cannot show
