I believe your lies

by DirtRoadGirl   Jun 7, 2011

I act like I don't hear the hiss of hate in your voice.
I pretend not to see the way you won't meet my eyes.
I walk in a daze, hearing only the "I love you".
The lie of the words, so painfully obvious.

I act like it doesn't hurt to smell an unfamiliar perfume.
I fake smiles to make you think you've got away with it again.
I stumble about, letting you play your games.
Giving you want you want cause I know it will make you stay.

I let you think you've played it cool.
Like I don't know a thing about what you do.
But the truth is I know what you say about me,
and the lies you think you've hidden away.

And I play your game,
because unlike you I mean what I say.
I love you with all that I have.
And even with it so painfully obvious,
I'll believe the lie you'll tell again and again...
