End Game

Oh morning glory!
I earned my story
A little like Oz and trick-or-treating on New Years Day,
Masqueraded with an angel while on mescaline,
I heard the shadow of the Dirt Devil say
"You know who I am, and I'm impressed"
I left him to shadow box with Pan and Echo in the dining room
They spoke and tempted
offering up fear and desire,
I was a warrior woman dressed
In tanned hides,
I shot arrows at the wall, slaying gloom
Tawdry kept the game going,
With a disguise of love as desire as hunger as carnage
My senses and instincts are honed ,
fear still burns an ember to keep desire in check,
I am still small within and growing
Holding fast to wonder and love, s
stronger than the protection of a tarnished badge
Call it a hard case, an open and shut case, a pillow case or a case of mistaken identity,
Because I mistook you for someone who gave a shit,
regardless I will still be free.
