Darkness Falls

by Chasing Butterflies   Jun 9, 2011

She walks in darkness, day out and day in,
Unable to see the light from within.
The shadows darken as all silence screams
For her to look back and wake from this dream.
There is no mercy for those who choose night
Over the day with its luminescent light.
Her sanguine tears fall to terrorize stone.
She knows what it is like to be alone.
Is sanity the price for darkened lives?
Must it be murdered to silence the cries?
She paws at the walls of insanity,
Truly unaware of her vanity.
How blind can she truly, honestly be?
How many discrepancies 'till she's free?
The world continues as she slowly dies;
Never again will she see the bright sky.
The silence consumes her, cuts to the bone--
How much longer 'till she's fully gone?
This hidden sanctum is not what it seems.
On her dead, shattered soul, emptiness teems.
She walks in darkness day out and day in,
Unable to see the light from within.
