Dreaming Wide Awake

by Justwolfy   Jun 12, 2011

Your name written across the skies of my mind,
I long for your embrace, the touch of your hand, the sight of your face.
I wish, I dream, I pursue.
Tonight, I dream of you.

Like a ghost,
You tend to leave,
Yet haunting your prescence seems to be.
Your attention I want to obtain,
I feel a tension in my brain.

My eyes glued shut, I lie wide awake.
The fire of your smile burns so bright,
Blinded by this glowing light,
I dream, with a heart wide open.

I try and try to hide,
This feeling won't subside.
An anxious gasp for air, and then it ends.
Yet my minds subtle tear doesn't seem to mend.

Instead it wonders what will come my way,
Will it be today.
Do you really exist,
Are you truly just a dream.
Is everything, or is nothing how it seems.

I try and try so hard to sleep,
But I've counted all the sheep,
I've sung myself mute.
The lullaby's of poetic injustice take hold,
Are you there?
Do you even exist?
Are you just a dream.

Your name written across the sky,
Sing me to sleep, a poetic lullaby.
Hold me close with your embrace,
Before I fall, I need to see your face.

A blurred vision tunnels my mind's eye, I can see, almost, so close, yet so far.
There, there you are!
Then you fade away,
Like the ghosts of my dreams taunting me while I sleep,
I awaken to find that I've dreamt of you, yet I can't make out who you truly are.

So close, but so far.

As I fall, catch me before it's too late.
Falling, falling, I fall asleep.
I've counted my last sheep.
Sleeping, dreaming, wishing.
Maybe it's you, or maybe it's me. I wonder what we're missing

    Great opening paragraph

"Your name written across the skies of my mind,
I long for your embrace, the touch of your hand, the sight of your face.
    I wish, I dream, I pursue.
    Tonight, I dream of you."

Beautiful verses, though I cannot understand the implication in line 4 below:

"I try and try so hard to sleep,
But I've counted all the sheep,
    I've sung myself mute.
The lullaby's of poetic injustice take hold,
    Are you there?
    Do you even exist?
    Are you just a dream."

Beautiful vivid imagery in a dream:

"A blurred vision tunnels my mind's eye, I can see, almost, so close, yet so far.
    There, there you are!
    Then you fade away,
Like the ghosts of my dreams taunting me while I sleep,
I awaken to find that I've dreamt of you, yet I can't make out who you truly are."

Absolutely beautiful and wonderful (dream)! Great write.
