A Chronicle Of Life

by Hurtingsoul   Jun 14, 2011

It started with a smile
And eyes glazed with bliss

Surrounded by four white walls
With the sound of an iv drip echoing
The doctor hurried through the halls
Running late for the awakening

A life was about to begin.

The mother cried in pain
The father smiled in anticipation
The mother continued to strain
And suddenly there was creation

A baby was born.

Joy settled in everyone's heart
The child brought love
This was the brand new start
In a world they didn't know was tough

Destiny chose their fate.

Years passed on by cheerfully
The baby girl grew and blossomed
The family kept on running smoothly
But hell was sprouting from the bottom

The beginning end.

She was only walking down the street
On her way home where dinner waited
Suddenly, ringing shots, she fell off her feet
Blood poured on the ground unabated

A life was finished.

The father brought to his knees
The mother shouting in despair
Tears creating rivers on cheeks
Agony lingered in the air

Two hearts shattered.

The funeral was held on a Tuesday
Roses were scattered along
Black was the color of the day
And as the wooden crate was lowered

It ended with a tear
Upon a grave

In a blink of an eye a life is taken away...

This is so true. I really like the progression in this piece. It really made the point that much stronger when one second you're imagining the joy of birth and the next the sadness of death. Great job. Def a 5/5

This is such a....precious piece in my eyes.
You show the how the gift of life unfolds,
starting with the family's joy & love....
where a mother waits in the hospital
for her healthy baby to take home.
And then the story of a sweet girl blossoming...
the end is tragic, an innocent life taken so
coldly, bitterly.....and it is as if a family's life
falls apart. But there will be healing soon.

    Powerful story.
    God bless our lives.
    Keep writing.
