Just Walk Away

by OneLostSoul   Jun 17, 2011

I awake dead in the night
A light appears
Coming in from under the door
Yellow, orange, red
Smoke starts to fill the room
A piercing scream
My vision becomes clouded
The smell taking me in
Burnt bricks, shattered windows
Tears drying, hearts breaking
A loud crash
Wood surrounds me
I hear the voices
But they don't form words
My body still on the bed
I embrace the flames
I want to be taken in
Another body embraces me
I go limp into it's arms
The night air is cold
Pitch black with yellow dots
Surrounds me into it's nothingness
A large light
Consumed by yellow, orange, red
The flames devour what's left
I watch it fall apart,
Just like my past
I pick up one foot, then the other
Into the dark empty shadows
I walk into my future
And like my past
Once again
I walk away.

Very nice detail. I'm glad you're finally getting it out you need that. But the sixth line from the bottom I think you missed a word. look it over, doesn't make sense to me. But it was an amazing poem! 5.5
