Once and For All

by HealingHearts   Jun 19, 2011

He told me I was cute and smart.
(Who knew those words would heal my heart?)
You beat me down and destroyed my pride.
(Now I see who you are inside.)
He tells me stories and laughs with me.
(His laugh makes me smile, can't you see?)
You never had fun, you only complained.
(I can understand why your "true love" waned.)
His every smile is warm and true.
(Isn't he amazing, compared to you?)
You never thought of how I feel.
(I realized you were more fake than real.)

We're over now, and I'm okay.
(I never thought I'd feel this way!)
Without you I can finally smile.
(I hope you'll see me and reconcile.)
When I see him, my heart beats fast.
(The same with you, in my past.)
His smile is so gentle, so kind.
(I don't care about you anymore, and I'm sure you don't mind.)
He took your place now when I dream at night.
(I love your best friend, is that alright?)
You have your wish, you can do what you want.
(Every girl is yours, does that hit the spot?)
So get your lying, cheating self out of my heart.
(Now that you're gone, my life can finally start.)

{It's still so hard for me to comprehend
That after all this pain my heart could mend,
Falling in love again was the final call
For forgetting you once and for all.}

I liked it. It was one poem telling two stories. The wording was good and I liked the format. It read easily and flowed nicely. I see nothing that needs changing.

    Gave it a 5/5
