Heaven Within

by MidniteRain   Jun 26, 2011

Who needs devils, demons or Hell?
We are more than capable
Of unspeakable evil, ourselves.
Created afterlife realities,
Imagined by suffering souls,
To take the weight of responsibility.
"Justice" and "God's will,"
Your justification for revenge.
Hurting the helpless,
Because others harmed you.
Thinking it will ease your agony,
But their sobbing and screaming,
Eternally haunt your every memory.
Deep inside, you know
What is right and what is wrong
To be true to your self
You don't need a vengeful God.
Find beauty and joy in every day,
Look deep within for your purpose
Do not search the heavens,
For a source of eternal happiness,
For if you can't find meaning in your self,
In the skies, you will only find a dark abyss.
