On Ghostly Paths

by NightFlyer   Jul 2, 2011

The ghostly paths that wind

Through the silence of evening

Calling me to the comfort of a dreamy solace

Under the glare of a brilliant moon

The hoot of owls and midnight birdsong

Weaving their mirthful spell

That swirls eerily up to clouds of chalcedony

Drifting and shimmering on the warm, ocean breeze....

Thank you MaryAnne! This poem was inspired by a moonlit walk I took at a Floridian park some weeks ago.

Lovely and a great pleasure to read a new piece from you! I loved the realness of the "glare" of that brilliant moon and the paths that haunt us....these images don't leave the mind and kind of remind me of being alone at night, what you can sense, what you can eerily hear.

Beautiful, reaches the reader in just enough clarity, but still leaving them thoughtful.

    Take care.
