The New Me (Hates the Old You)

by Beautiful Forever   Jul 3, 2011

I wish I could see you the way I once did
But the new me hates the old you...
It's back and forth, never in-between
A friendship that lasts, now that's a dream

You used to love to laugh, now you still do
You laugh for other reasons than you used to
Some are wrong, some are right... however...
None of them will keep me here tonight (or ever...)

I wish I could say I know who you are
But the old me has come so far...
Just to watch everything wither away
Day... after day... after day...

A change was in order, and completed
Moving fast forgetting the past, (defeated)
My old self couldn't take anymore...
Of the lies you told me a heart was for

I wish you were here now, I've changed
From the hollow shell you've arranged
But I guess you got what you deserved
Even your presence had me unnerved

You died the instant you tried to hide
Dead to me now, I have more room inside
To start over once more, or stay the same
But one thing is for sure...
I am not yours to tame.

Wow. This is amazing. The flow is nice, and yes the rhyme is as well, but what really catches my eye here is the emotion. It is strong and stands out, but it also carries the whole of this piece. I love this, excellent job.

Loved the smooth flow and the subtle rhyme in this piece. It seems like you always write from the heart. Keep it up!
