The Exception to The Rule

by doc gerbil   Jul 4, 2011

Tears fill the dull eyes that one possessed love
Hopes and dreams burned down in a blaze
By someone who "loved" you
You never know who people really are
You just have to wait and see

I wish things would go better, but deep down
I know nothing will ever change
Things will stay as plain as the sadness
That fills these weary eyes

This world is full of dull and deceiving eyes
Like a blank expressionless sky
I see plains of people
Forging their disguise
To hide themselves from me

But there is one star in this dull sky,
That burns bright, brighter then all the rest
One that rains love and sympathy down,
On this shrouded plain we call earth
It is love and sympathy that will last
It will never fade or die it will simply,
Exist for eternity brightly shinning

This star is the exception to the rule
It always shows its beautiful colors
On this grey plain
Never needing to hide them
It shows truth love and understanding
Something the others try to put in their disguise

You give me what others couldn't,
My eyes fill with love and peace with you
For you have nothing to hide and never will
You peal back the layers of this grey plain
To reveal the true colors
Of those who lie underneath

Why cant everyone be like you?
