Rats

by AsianInTexas   Jul 10, 2011

I stand at the doorway
Waiting for the familiar bell to release the rats.
Right as the bell rings,
they are free.

I step to the side
as I watch the halls fill.
Quickly,
Not at all silent.

They push and shove,
Some even scream.
As if there was only one morsel of food left in this pitiful world.

I stare at them as they move past me,
unaware that I exist.
But I don't mind.
He is the only one that matters,
in this world full of rats.
