Talking To The Moon

by Pia   Jul 14, 2011

The plane couldn't bring me higher
Than being with you ever could
The clouds had failed to lift me up
When I thought that they would
The vast sky somehow made me feel
Almost the same blue hue
It's funny how the view up there
Seemed lifeless without you

The bus ride played a long slideshow
Of the prettiest sceneries
Fields of grass that grew knee-high
Swayed gently in the breeze
No words could describe the sights I'd seen
After that, in the train ride
And I knew you would have loved them too
If you were by my side

You should have seen the sun's warm glow
Rays trickling through the trees
Horses grazing, barns stood tall
The perfect picture of peace
And if you were right there with me
To an old cabin we'd run
And lay beneath a willow tree
Till we meet the morning sun

I fell in love with Zaanse Schans
And its beautiful windmills
The houses, lakes, and bridges and
Flowers on the window sills
But not for a second did you leave
The sanctuary of my mind
And when I walked, I swung my arms
As though your hand was in mine

But Glasgow's coldness made me long
For the warmth of your embrace
And your kisses that would often set
My lonely soul ablaze
London failed to make me think
Of anything but us two
The palace, Big Ben (and even Harrods)
Couldn't compare to being with you

Now I'm starting to realize that the stars
are brighter when you're here
And somehow, with you, the midnight sky
had never been so clear
But tonight I'm missing you and your voice
Wishing I'd hear from you soon
But calls ain't cheap, and Skype's a pain
So I'll keep talking to the moon
