The Grandest Illusion

by Anthony M   Jul 20, 2011

Shackled by society's morals
saturated in this thing called life
handcuffed to necessary evils
cut by materialism's unyielding knife
searching for elusive happiness
finding only superficial ideals
slaves to corporate marketing finesse
is there still a soul they did not steal
will we ever awaken from this nightmare
do we even know the game isn't real
do we really even care?

Very strong message here... one that I wholeheartedly agree with.

    I especially love the line
    "cut by materialism's unyielding knife"

One suggestion would be to change the line, "saturated in this thing called life" to "hypnotized by this thing called life" or something like that. It would provide a better image, imo.

    Great job!
