The Broken Heart Picture Book

by Freeze Tyler   Jul 25, 2011

Yesterday I bought a novel,
Just something nice to read.
Its actually more like a picture book,
Telling my life as it sees.

It's title is The Broken Heart Picture Book,
And with all the time it took
For me to finally read,
It's obvious how true it is to me.

Yesterday I bought a novel,
Just something nice to read.
I opened it and saw your face,
But it wasn't out of place.

I saw a picture of a pretty tree,
With a guy under it in the shade,
It looked like he is trying to read,
Wait a minute, no he's trying to write.

An apple fell off of this pretty tree.
It hit him right square in the head.
He looked up into the sky,
To see the tree, now he is laying dead.

The next page was a basket of food.
Filled with more of the same apples.
He took a bite out of the chosen one,
Just to find out it was poisonous.

The text at the bottom of each page,
It said "I love you" In big print.
In red words right underneath it,
It said "Until the day You die."

I closed the book
And realized she was never mine.
A quiet grin went across my face,
It didn't seem out of place; I was fine.

I'll just read closer next time.
