Perfection

by rachael morrone   Jul 30, 2011

I wouldn't change a damn thing about you,
no matter how bad this gets.
You could drown yourself in alcohol, sink your
troubles into pill bottles,
bring yourself face to face with death.
I would reach out for your hand
and watch you push it away
and I would still give my heart to you
without hesitation every single day.
You could pound your fist into these walls
and you could shatter the mirrors so
you don't have to see yourself if you're appalled
but I would force you to look in my eyes
for if you saw your reflection in them,
you would see perfection.
You wouldn't look away,
you wouldn't know how;
it's like a sickly infection.
I can't take my eyes off you
because you are so beautifully broken
that it causes me to choke on my dumbfounded words
that shouldn't even be spoken
because i know that you wont listen.
You wouldn't believe me, i know.
But look into my eyes, look at your reflection.
You'll believe me then, i promise
because you would see perfection.

I used to write in stanzas up until about last year. That's when I changed my style of writing. I just find it easier and more emotional to let everything flow out of my head without breaking it up into sections. Thank you for the compliments, and taking the time to read my poetry.

I like the whole idea of the poem, frienship, this being on the darker side of stuff makes it more interesting... It may not be your style to use stanzas and all but sometimes trying something new can be amusing and somewhat enjoyable, cause youre doin something youre not used to, lol. Anyways, all in all, this is good stuff, keep it up.

I liked this, to make it even better, you could try breaking up the poem a little, seperating lines and making short stanza's or couplets (two lines)
Otherwise, an inspirational poem about friendship and what we can see in others when they cannot,
    keep it up
