I'm Confused

by Innocent Fairy   Aug 2, 2011

I'm confused about the wind.
I'm confused about the water,
That runs in the rivers.
I'm confused about the way the earth moves,
And I'm confused about how I feel.
I don't know anymore.
I don't know why the earth moves.
I don't know why I cry.
I don't know why it rains,
Or why the ocean has waves.
I'm confused...
About the moon and the sun.
I'm confused...
About the stars and why they shine.
I don't know anymore.

I look at empty reflections,
Empty spaces.
I'm confused about everything!
I don't know me.
Who am I?
Why do I exist?
What is my purpose?
I don't know anymore.
I'm just confused.
Empty.
Left without answers.

I like the flow of the poem. It has strength in its form. The way you use choppy sentences and fragments to stress how you feel adds to the beauty of the work. One can feel the confusion. one can see the hesitation on the page. we are, as readers, right beside you in this journey through the whole poem. Great job using your words to captivate and gain an affective (literary term for an emotional response- just in case someone didn't know) response from the audience.
