    Rachael,
I rarely comment on cutter poems; most seem to be beyond my reach. This work is so open and yet at the same time compact and rich, that it pulled me in. The mutilation is the context, but the ethereal experience overwhelms the reader. The vision of blood transforming the actor has an element of transubstantiation: sacrificing her blood, she achieves a spiritual release. It forces the reader to replace repugnance with compassion.
