Strange Beauty

by Joseph Boadi   Aug 3, 2011

She had exquisite looking jewel eyes
Each wink twinkled like pearls beneath the ocean bed
She was a maid so wonderous and fair
With beauty entangled in each corner of her sphere
A nightingale she always was
With her hair click clacking with every gorgeous step
Her voice was overflowing like old brewed bear
Each word that fell through her cinnamon lips
Tasted like fresh cherry in january
Her garments were gay and plenty
And possesses five and twenty
Five roses and twenty poses
And a chest full of costly shoes
Out of which she could pick and choose
All she did is to eat to her fill
Slake her thirst and sleep at will
She fed on wine soaked wheat
As she screamed and hopped on drunken feet
I murmured"goodness gracious me"
What a strange and enchanting creature i could ever see

I like your title. To be able to sleep at will is a strange beauty. I really like your poem.

This tickled my senses... so cute, I thought this type of poetry was lost and could only be read in old dusty books. Loved it, and the ending was so unexpected, I was so immersed in the beautiful description of the lady that I never expected her to be any different... It also shows that first impressions don't depend only on looks, some people just have an air about them which draws us to them.
