Trapped In The Age of Darkness

by bornapoet   Aug 13, 2011

A time for change needs to come.

Bringing new life into a world of darkness.

Craving to be more than a slave but,

Dreading about the little time that I have.

Enchantment only comes from my thoughts.

Falling into a dark ominous abyss.

Gaining control of my own life runs deep in my soul.

Horrendous visions thrown my way, along with

Intriguing feeling of living a life of freedom.

Justice is served, oh what joy that would be!

Knowing that some part of this world is filled with

Love for our people, instead of weak

Menial behavior.

Never in my life will I be free from these shackles.

Oppression coming my way with every turn.

Perpetual nightmare will last, so much

Questions running through my head.

Rage captures me in its possession with every beat of my heart.

Screaming! Oh what

Terror that causes the

Unnatural devastation in my life, like a bite of a snake,

Venom courses through my veins.

Willing to tear my freedom away from me.

X- Ray’s cannot see my pain, for it lies deeper than any broken bone.

Yearning for a life of my own. Instead I’m left with nothing except

Zero status in life.

I liked your poem; it had powerful statements and a nice flow. It brought me up and down in feelings and like a roller-coaster I felt that sudden stop where you feel the word spinning and that the ride is not over yet... Surprising end to it. Well written :)
