The Chase

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Aug 15, 2011

My breaths shorten
My heart beats triple times
You're in a relationship
But I don't mind
I watch you kiss her
And caress her cheek
Your name all over my notebook
I wish that was you and me

Butterflies in my stomach
My palms get real sweaty
If you were to walk up to me
I don't think I would be ready
I hear your voice
A melodic sound to my ears
A smile planted by choice
Trying not to faint over here

Thick glasses cover my eyes
Braces trapping my teeth
But to my surprise
You're not embarrassed talking to me
What are you talking about?
Don't know; don't care.
Look at your sparkling eyes
And away I stare.

I wish you were all mine;
Wish I could tell how I feel.
Let us be real;
Your heart isn't mine to steal.
There are a million other girls
Who would kill to take her place.
So why should you fall for me?
Why should I even dream of the chase?
