When it Rains, it Pours

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Aug 16, 2011

The last time I saw you
You were standing in the rain
So I walked over to you
And asked if you were okay
You stared off into the distance
And I softly grabbed your hand
I know what you're going through
So I can understand

Again, you're out in the park
Sitting on a bench in the rain
I know it's you even though it's dark
Like before, I ask if you're okay
This time, you look at me
And I see hurt in your bloodshot eyes
Yeah, it may be raining
But I can still see where you've cried

You're thinking of killing yourself
Because you're girl left you again
First it was with your brother
Now she's off with your best friend
You just love her so much
You can't seem to let her go
I know how it feels to be alone
How is to love someone so cold

It doesn't usually rain much
But when it does, there's a storm
Of course you wanna be with that person
Who will make you warm
Even though we don't talk at all
I hug you tight so you could feel better
Go ahead, cry some more
It helps even in this weather

Your hands tremble against my back
You hesitate to take my warm embrace
Then you hug me and say thank you
For helping you while you're in a bad place
That's what I'm here for
To be there when you get hurt
I've been through the same door
I've felt the burn

So we're both staring into the distance
While the rain soaks us up
A realize a tall tree in front of us
And when the lightning struck
I saw our names in a heart shape
And then I looked at you
Back when we were kids, you had a crush on me
Back when I had a crush on you

We both smile and you held my hand
Said "I never meant to hurt you."
I shrug my shoulders and look at the tree
It's okay...I still love you anyways
