What I Miss

by HealingHearts   Aug 18, 2011

I was missing these butterflies.
Tickling my stomach and otherwise
Telling me sweet, quiet things,
Like summer walks and lovely dreams,
And midnight swims under bright moonlight,
Whispering under darkened skies...
Yeah, I missed these butterflies.

I was missing this fluttery heart.
The way you look when it gets dark,
Evening breezes wafting through,
Bringing memories of me and you.
Just when the slow music starts,
And we hit the solo part...
Yeah, I missed this fluttery heart.

I was missing these shaky hands.
Hold them tight, just a glance,
I can see you there from far away,
The way you looked that summer day.
You seem so busy with your many plans,
Yet you give me another chance...
Yeah, I missed these shaky hands.

*

I suppose I was missing you.
Who you are, and what you do.
The way you make me feel when you're around,
Spinning crazy with feet stuck to the ground.
Every dream include us two.
And all along, I guess I knew...
Yeah, I really miss you.

This is one of the best poems I've seen on this site in a VERY long time. The way you use your words, your perfect word structure, such a bright variety of vocabulary. Definitely was an AMAZING poem. One you should be proud of. I could relate and I'm sure so will many others. Lost love is one of the biggest inspirations for writing poetry, and I know a certain person, besides myself, who would absolutely adore this poem. I couldn't even pick a favorite part, I loved the ENTIRE piece. You definitely did a magnificent job and I look forward to reading more of your work. 5/5
